Why Poetry is the most underrated Art form?
Origin of word Poetry is derived from a variant of the Greek term, poiesis i.e.: “making”, it is a literature composed in verse or language exhibiting conscious attention to patterns and rhythm.
I think let alone this definition is enough to destroy any conscious attention from the ever so anxious readers be it a toddler or an adult; yet the poetry survived through the ages of evolution and the infinite wars our intellect has suffered.
However, looking at the time we live in; Poetry is the most underrated art form. Why? The answer to me lies in the definition itself, which is to make, to conceive and to write an irrecoverable thought which isn’t there yet present in the subconscious of a poet; and the very origin of subconscious is to make what isn’t there. It is not merely by an effort but by a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response a poem is born and matured by those for whom it was made.
And I believe, most of us modern age poets are failing to make and to conceive rather we are rearranging the obvious in a lyrical form (You know what I am Rupirring to) and calling it a poem; Perhaps the attention span of both the poets and readers are too short to understand the intricate details of human emotions, Thanks to Instalife.
Also, unlike any other modern art forms like painting (A visual representation of emotions), Cinema (A audio visual representation of emotions) or the music (A sensory representation of emotions)…
