What is Enlightenment?
One day, while meditating under the Bodhi tree Buddha woke up enlightened; A story that many of us have read but can this be true? Can there be an awakening in a whisk of seconds? Can there be a Eureka moment which can change your life forever?
Maybe yes, or maybe not. To me personally, enlightenment is not a Eureka or Aha! moment, but rather a process — a journey we embark on subconsciously through our discretion, reason, and the experiences of all mortal and immortal beings. During this journey, we eventually reach a point we call the “enlightening moment,” where the course of our discourse shifts inward in search of the Übermensch, the higher self within us.
In many philosophies enlightenment is also associated with the Moksha aka liberation from the cycle of birth and death; however, I believe in what I have seen and the only truth that I am aware of is that I will be dead one day. Neither I know what was before my birth or what will be after my death so very concept of Moksha aka Enlightenment never fascinated me enough to get myself liberated from the cycle of birth and death. I believe the spiritual liberation aka nirvana; an awakening to believe in my own experiences and to embark on my own journey neither prescribed nor influenced by any thoughts but from the self-experiences and discretions.
